Collections

Burnaby Public Library's collection has an array of formats to meet various reading needs and preferences. While seniors are welcome to borrow any material from the library, here are a few collections that may be of special interest to seniors:

Large Print

Burnaby Public Library maintains a Large Print collection at all four branches, consisting of popular reading, classics, and non-fiction. Any library patron can borrow from the Large Print collection. We constantly add to new titles to our "pool" of large print, which cycles through each branch, 6 months at a time, before it finds its permanent home at one of the branches.

Want to know the latest titles in large print? Visit our online catalogue for our most recent large print acquisitions, visit us in branch and ask a librarian, or download our most recent PDF list, New Large Print Books at Burnaby Public Library.

Audiobooks

Burnaby Public Library is home to an audiobook collection at all four branches. Any library patron can borrow from the audiobooks collection. We primarily offer audiobooks in CD format, but we also have a collection of Playaways (a small, pre-loaded device with a specific title) at Tommy Douglas Library. There is also a collection of accessible audiobook material (MP3 discs and Daisy Discs) in our Home Library Service department, reserved for the use for people with print disabilities.

Want to know the latest audiobooks available from BPL? Visit our online catalogue for our most recent audiobook acquisitions or visit us in branch and ask a librarian at the information desk.

Can't find what you're looking for? We constantly add new titles and welcome suggestions for purchase from the public. Please contact us to make an inquiry or suggestion.

E-Books and E-Audiobooks

Burnaby Public Library subscribes to various service providers for access to e-books and e-audiobooks to download to your own computer or device. E-book readers have the advantage of adjusting text size and brightness to suit each reader's needs.

Visit our e-book and audiobook page for more information, or visit us in branch and ask a librarian. You will need to use your BPL library account number to access.
