Burnaby city

The online city bylaws include the Burnaby zoning bylaw, expenditure bylaws from 1999- , and alphabetically-arranged regulatory bylaws.

Find contact information for mayor and council city departments and boards and committees.

Burnaby's official community plan is the planning document to guide the future development of Burnaby in areas including residential and commercial land, agriculture, transportation, the environment, and social services.

The Population and Quick Stats page includes social and demographic trends 1981-2006 and city and neighbourhood profiles by planning study area.There is also a link to 2011 Census Data on Burnaby.

BurnabyMap is a web-based mapping website that provides access to the City’s geographic information systems (GIS). There are over thirty map layers (themes) of data that can be viewed, including property address and assessment data, parks and recreation facilities, waterways, major trail systems and cycle routes, roads, HOV lanes, transit systems, schools, public libraries and other public places including fire halls, shopping complexes and policing services, road maps, engineering data such as sewer and water mains, and high-resolution aerial photographs.

Detailed land-use maps and their associated community plans for all Burnaby development zones are also available online.

The City of Burnaby site provides political, social and recreational information on the city. Here you will find information on city council , departments, and services, how to get around, where to find parks and green spaces, calendars of events, and other community and tourism links.

City of Burnaby meetings includes links to information on how to appear as a delegation , council meeting schedules and web broadcasts. Click on  "Council Agendas"  to view archived agendas back to 1997.

InfoBurnaby is Burnaby's official quarterly newsletter for residents with articles on civic issues, important notices for residents and a calendar of events.

Burnaby history

The Burnaby Archives houses civic and private records documenting the history of the City of Burnaby.

Charting Change: An Interactive Atlas of Burnaby's Heritageis made up of four interactive, chronological maps that are plotted with landmarks, historic buildings and neighbourhoods and linked to historic photographs, artifacts and neighbourhood histories.

The Heritage Burnaby site is a project initiated by the City of Burnaby's Community Heritage Commission with the Heritage Program of the Planning and Building Department; the City Archives of the Clerk's Department, Burnaby Village Museum and the Burnaby Public Library. Online resources include a searchable database of historical photographs, artifacts, textual records and heritage landmarks. The textual records collection includes Burnaby Council Minutes from 1980 -1996.

The Burnaby Art Gallery website provides information on art exhibits and programs. There is also a searchable database of the Art Gallery’s collection.

The Burnaby Board of Trade is the city’s largest business association. Their membership directory is available online.

Burnaby Community Connections helps people community resources
and services. It publishes the Community Resource Guide which is a
directory of  Burnaby services including resources on low-cost food,
housing, education and other services for families,seniors and youth.  
It also also publishes  Ready, Set, Learn, Middle Childhood Matters and
the Seniors' Health Guide and organizes the Christmas Bureau.

Burnaby Family Life is a non-profit society delivering more than 100 workshops, conferences, education, counseling and family support programs each year.

Burnaby Food First is a group of community members and local agencies working together to bring food security to Burnaby.  They host food workshops open to the public.

The Heights Merchants Association is a Business Improvement Area (BIA) comprising of North Burnaby businesses. The site includes information on the North Burnaby area.

The Burnaby Village Museum is a combination of heritage and replica buildings on a 10 acre site. Highlights include the restored Interurban Tram and the 1912 CW Parker Carousel.
